Warren County Public Works Meeting - Airport Discussions - Notes by Bob Singer

Marshall ran through the agenda of his last meeting.  He announced
that the FAA approved the bid by Kubricky to repave 12-30 and that
work will start.  The creation of a runway safety area on the
departure end of 19 is on hold pending county approval of a contract
with C&S engineering to complete the wetland mitigation design and
monitoring plan.  The County did not make any decisions on that,
although the work is required by the FAA and they have the permits to
construct from DEC, pending the mitigation plan.  Marshall brought up
the stormwater permit required for us to wash our planes, but they did
not seem eager to consider that.  The lease for the FBO is up this
year, and the extension clause has already been executed, so they have
to rebid it.  Empire East has made a proposal to build 20 new
T-hangars but their bid will depend on whether or not they can keep
the FBO operations.  Another unnamed party is interested in building
T-hangars, and the County has $60,000 in grant money to build hangars
that has not been spent.  Marshall suggested that the County money
could be used to replace the derelict old t-hangars and that private
money can be used for the expansion.  George Thurston was presented as
the owner of a new business to build Light Sport Aircraft in the old
maintenance hangar.  They want to re-meter it so that he pays
utilities, but they tabled a decision to fix the leaky roof until they
could inspect it during better weather.

Marshall Stevens was thanked for his 8 years of service and a
discussion ensued about his replacement.  They have 10 letters and
they Mr. Lemay from public works and Marshall are trying to whittle
them done to a list for interviews.    Lou Tessier mentioned Larry
Reinstein's letter, offering to have a delegate on the committee.
They balked at that saying that it's their job to represent the
public.  After the meeting they asked for input from the public.  I
introduced myself and gave a short talk saying how important the
airport is to us and that we are interested and concerned about its
upcoming transition, and that we would appreciate the opportunity to
be involved.  They opened the discussion again and agreed that pilots
could review the selections but not vote, and I offered to attend
meetings as necessary or send a delegate.
